Ysgol Porth y Felin – School Improvement Plan Summary (2025–2028)

At Ysgol Porth y Felin, we are committed to providing the best possible education and support for every child. Our School Improvement Plan outlines key priorities for the next three years, based on feedback from inspections, staff evaluations, and pupil voice. Here's what we're focusing on:

1. Welsh Language Development

  • We aim to increase pupils’ use of Welsh throughout the day.
  • Staff will model Welsh more consistently, and pupils will be supported to become confident bilingual speakers.
  • Our Criw Cymraeg will lead initiatives and assemblies to promote Welsh across the school.

2. High-Quality Teaching & Learning

  • We’re improving how we challenge all learners, especially the more able.
  • Teachers will use feedback and assessment strategies to help pupils understand their learning and make strong progress.
  • Staff will work together to share best practices and ensure consistency across classes.

3. Wellbeing & Behaviour

  • We’re embedding our values: Ready, Respectful, Kind.
  • Pupils will be supported to build resilience and confidence.
  • Staff will use restorative approaches to support positive behaviour and relationships.

4. Attendance & Punctuality

  • We’re working to improve attendance, especially for vulnerable pupils.
  • Families will be supported through communication and engagement strategies.
  • Pupils will be celebrated for good attendance and punctuality.
